The first time I headed down to Sin City was for the traditional escapism. I wanted to try gambling in Las Vegas. Hey, where else compares? Not even Atlantic City can vie with the variety and culture found in Vegas. Anyway, once a buddy and I arrived in Las Vegas, we hit up our hotel casino for a bit of fun. In no time at all I had lost 200 bucks. Yeah, it was safe to say that I was an amateur. No worries though! After all, I had set aside a portion of cash specifically for gambling in Las Vegas. I recommend that you do the same before you hop in that car or jump on that plane. Be aware of how much you can afford to lose. This will make your stay much more relaxing and enjoyable. If there’s one thing everyone should know about gambling in Las Vegas, it’s their financial limits.

Vegas And Video Poker Strategy

Thursday, November 1st, 2007

I love going to Las Vegas. It is so different from day to day life that even if I am there only for a long weekend I feel like I have had a break. Watching people is amazing. It was through watching others gamble thought I started thinking about how wagering started. It is very obvious that it is a very strong part of eastern cultures. There are many games as well as slot machines that are based on eastern themes.

When I go to Vegas I do not go to win money. I know that the odds are with the house. I do like to play video poker because I have read that the odds of winning are better than other slot machines. I have read some video poker strategy and some of it makes sense. There are so many different poker machines to choose from. You have to know the differences between full-pay and short-pay machines, you’ll have to know the optimum strategy for each type of video poker machines. Now with the majority of machines in Vegas you can switch over which denomination you want to play right on the machine, also many of the machines give a choice of which poker game you want to play such as jokers wild, deuces wild multiple hands etc. My video poker strategy is to check the pay tables. I want to play machines that are going to return my bet for three of a kind or two pairs. Also you will find that the games that include a wild card, such as jokers wild and deuces wild, the pay backs are less. You want to sit at a machine that pays a minimum of a thousand credits for a royal flush.

The royal flush is the ultimate hand and prize when playing poker. My video poker strategy, unlike many others is not to go for the royal flush at every opportunity. I used to do this when I first started playing video poker and found that I was losing many hands by doing this. Some people will say if you have for example two kings, and an ace that matches one of the kings you should hold that instead of the pair. I have found that by holding the pair I have a great chance of getting three or four of a kind, a much better chance than getting a Royal Flush. My best video poker strategy is to cash out of a machine any time I have doubled my money.
